How Tiny Dancer Brought Glitter to the Cannabinoid Industry
After Camille Winans was diagnosed with endometriosis, a friend suggested that she try Delta-8 to combat pain and inflammation instead of using traditional pharmaceuticals. After experiencing the first-hand benefits of Delta-8 THC for pain management, she fell in love with the science behind cannabinoids. She launched Tiny Dancer in July 2018.
Waiting for the Right Opportunity
Camille started as a Sales Leader within the e-vapor and smoke shop industry in 2012. Over the years, she encountered multiple opportunities to have her own product. Until her exposure to Delta-8, nothing really excited her to put her name behind it. When she saw the opportunity to blend her passion for cannabinoids with her existing experience, she jumped at the chance.
The Power of Transparency
Consumers want a different experience when they try new things. They want transparency. Tiny Dancer is committed to providing transparency and a wonderful user experience with every profile released. While development takes longer when transparency and quality are prioritized above other things, the reward of hearing customers say “Whoa… that IS different!” when trying Tiny Dancer products is how the company knows that they got it right again.
Innovative Flavor Blends
Tiny Dancer blends are flavored with complex profiles like Vanilla Key Lime Cookie, Rainbow Candy, and Forbidden Citrus. The paired flavors complement the cross-strain formulation for an ultra-effective user experience. For example, the popular G-Spot blend mixes Forbidden Citrus, which tastes like a creamsicle, with lineages from Afghan Kush crossed with G-13.
“I wanted to create something that went above and beyond throwing synthetic terpenes in distillate and trying to stand out in an already bloated space,” Camille says. “I wanted the product offering to bridge the gap between first-time users in the e-vapor and smoke shop channel using what I know…flavors.”
Representing Female Leadership
Camille is one of the few female brand owners on this side of the industry. The wider cannabis industry was and is one of the first multi-billion dollar industries with more women at the helm than most other industries. There was a time when the cannabis industry had a higher average of female executives than the national average. However, as the marketplace expands and the potential for big money over stigma has shifted, that too has declined.
The reality is that the percentage of female consumers in most areas has grown to represent about half of the overall purchases. Camille identified an opportunity to overcome the underrepresentation of women in the cannabis industry when it came to packaging and branding. Her products would not feature the same stoner stigma but instead focus on the transparency of quality development and glitter. Tiny Dancer is unapologetically feminine, with hot pink packaging and all the glitter.
Do men buy Tiny Dancer products, too? Of course. Male customers happily buy the hot pink boxes of premium products that hit hard and taste like heaven once they experience the quality difference.
Over time, Camille hopes to see more female entrepreneurs enter the space. “I’m sure more women will see the opportunity I did and I can’t wait to see the marketplace expand with a more inclusive selection across the nation,” she says. “I know I will certainly be here to represent females in the marketplace and I am grateful to have the opportunity to brand something authentic that I have such a passion for.”
Standing Out in a Crowded Market
There are a lot of products out there branded for mass consumption. A lot of them are starting to look and perform the same. Tiny Dancer was designed to stand out on the shelves and the product inside the box was developed to dazzle as much as the box itself.
As far as the future goes, you can expect that Tiny Dancer will continue to set new trends and push the limits of product evolution. As we enter the age of alternative cannabinoids and their mainstream acceptance, Tiny Dancer still works to correct misinformation, navigate impending regulations, and build customer trust. Tiny Dancer will continue to forge into the wider market and expand into the licensed cannabis space in other marketplaces.
